Museum Island

Museum Island is the name of the northern half of an island in the Spree river in the central Mitte district of Berlin. It is much visited by tourists and the historical birthplace of Berlin's museum landscape. With the museums occupying the island's northern part, it is one of the most significant museum complexes in the world. In 1999, the museum complex was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
