Central Station ("Hauptbahnhof") is the biggest interchange station in Europe and the most important junction in Berlin. It is the fourth busiest passenger station in Germany, serving some 300.000 passengers each day. It is located on the site of the historic Lehrter Bahnhof (1868-1951) and the Lehrter Stadtbahnhof (1882-2002). It began full operation on 26 May 2006.
